Useful information for authors and trainers

Poster:

  • Posters will be presented in paper format.

  • The designated author must be available to answer questions during the breaks.

  • There will be no formal poster presentation.

Oral presentation:

  • Each presentation will have a duration of 15 minutes.

    • 13 minuts for the presentation.

    • 2 minuts for questions.

  • It is recommended to use 12 to 15 slides (approximately 1 slide per minute, plus the title slide).

  • All presentations must include a title slide with:

    • Title of the presentation

    • Names of all authors and their institutional affiliations (as per template)

    • Relevant statements (when applicable), including conflicts of interest and funding sources

  • Recommended structure (research work):
    • Research presentations should include, when applicable:
      • Introduction (including hypothesis and objectives)
      • Methods (including statistical analysis: number of observations, test used, and p-value)
      • Results
      • Conclusions (including a final statement on the relevance of the results for the field)
  • Formats and software
    • Presentations must be in PORTUGUESE or ENGLISH.
    • PowerPoint projection or PDF display will be supported.
    • No other software should be used.
  • Design and readability recommendations
    • PowerPoint should clarify ideas, emphasize key points, and visually support the presentation (avoid excessive text).

    • Slides must be legible from the back of the room:

      • font size ≥ 24 pt

      • avoid narrow/condensed fonts (prefer Helvetica or similar)

    • Text limits per slide:
      • 6 lines: acceptable
      • 9 lines: marginal
      • 12 lines: illegible
    • Use keywords/short phrases, avoiding full sentences.
    • Prioritize images, charts, and figures to maintain audience interest.
    • Charts/images should be simple and focused (ideally one message per chart). When applicable, include measures of central tendency and variability (mean/median; standard deviation/standard error/CI, etc.).
    • Recommended contrast:
      • dark text on light background or light text on dark background (with good contrast).
      • use red/green with caution (accessibility).
  • General presentation considerations:
    • Rehearse beforehand.
    • Strictly respect the allotted time.
    • Thank the moderator.
    • Avoid repeating the title and co-authors’ names at the beginning.
    • Speak clearly, look at the audience, use a microphone, and maintain an appropriate pace.
    • If available, use a laser pointer only when necessary (especially for figures/charts).

Workshop:

  • Each workshop will last 90 minutes and will be held twice in the same room (for different groups).

  • The list of requested materials will be confirmed as soon as possible; additional materials are the responsibility of the trainers.

  • The Organizing Committee intends to set a maximum of 15 participants per session.
