Presentation and Participation Guidelines

The official template available here must be used.

Poster

  • Posters must be presented in printed format.

  • The designated author must be available to answer questions during the breaks.

  • There will be no formal oral presentation of the poster.

Oral Presentation

  • Each presentation will last 15 minutes:

    • 13 minutes for the presentation

    • 2 minutes for questions

  • It is recommended to use 12–15 slides (approximately one slide per minute, in addition to the title slide).

Title Slide (mandatory)

All presentations must include a title slide containing:

  • Title of the presentation

  • Names of all authors and their institutional affiliations (according to the template)

  • Relevant statements, when applicable, including conflicts of interest and sources of funding

Recommended Structure (research presentations)

Research presentations should include, whenever applicable:

  1. Introduction (including hypothesis and objectives)

  2. Methods (including statistical analysis: number of observations, test used, and p-value)

  3. Results

  4. Conclusions (including a final statement on the relevance of the findings to the field)

Formats and Software

  • Presentations must be in PORTUGUESE or ENGLISH.

  • Projection will support PowerPoint or PDF format.

  • No other software should be used.

Design and Readability Recommendations

  • The PowerPoint should clarify ideas, highlight key points, and visually support the talk (avoid excessive text).

  • Slides must be readable from the back of the room:

    • font size ≥ 24 pt

    • avoid narrow or condensed fonts (prefer Helvetica or similar)

  • Recommended text limits per slide:

    • 6 lines: acceptable

    • 9 lines: marginal

    • 12 lines: unreadable

  • Use keywords or short phrases, not full sentences.

  • Prefer images, charts, and figures to maintain audience engagement.

  • Graphics and images should be simple and focused (ideally one message per graphic). When appropriate, include measures of central tendency and variability (mean/median; SD/SE/CI, etc.).

  • Recommended contrast:

    • dark text on a light background or light text on a dark background with clear contrast

    • use red/green carefully (accessibility considerations)

General Presentation Advice

  • Rehearse your presentation.

  • Finish on time to avoid disrupting the schedule.

  • Acknowledge the session moderator.

  • Avoid repeating the title and co-authors’ names verbally at the start.

  • Speak clearly, face the audience, use the microphone, and maintain an appropriate pace.

  • If available, use a laser pointer only when necessary (especially for figures and charts).

Workshop

  • Each workshop will last 90 minutes and will be delivered twice in the same room (for different groups).

  • The requested materials list will be confirmed as soon as possible; additional materials are the responsibility of the facilitators.

  • The Organizing Committee intends to limit participation to a maximum of 15 participants per session.
